Motorola new cellphone line up

Motorola yesterday showed off their whole new line up of cellphones in NYC. First was the razr2 v8, v9, and v9m. the V8 features: quad-band GSM/EDGE, Motorola's new Linux/Java platform, full HTML browser. Includes 2 GB of built in memory but no card slot. It is 12mm thick, for T-Mobile.

The V9 : thicker than the other two models but adds noise cancellation technology, a microSD slot and video sharing. It is expected in late summer with quad-band GSM and HSDPA (high sped Internet) 850/1900 for cingular

The V9m: another 12mm thick model with EV-DO and media playback keys that are visible at all times (the others stay hidden until needed). Will run first on Verizon any properly later on sprint (as always...) and is expected at the end of summer.

also was the Motorola MOTO Z8 with crystal clear video capture and playback at 30 frames per second and up to 32GB of expandable memory. The MOTO Z8, the world's first kick slider, is expected to hit shelves in Europe and Asia in June. It will enable entertainment fans to get mobile TV, video and music all on one device. As an added bonus, a 512MB memory card will be included in-box pre-loaded with a full-length feature film – "The Bourne Identity" – from Universal Pictures. full report

Sprint has text to landline msg

Sprint has a new service that allows you to sent a txt msg to any land line number and sprint calls that number and says the msg via voice. it then sends a msg back to your cellphone to let you know if someone picked up the phone or the answering machine picked up.

RAZR 2 announced!

the best selling phone that sold over 60 million phones the Motorola razr will now get a replacement, the razr 2, announced today by Motorola, the phone will be thinner then the currently razr. It will have a 2.0 megapixel camera, bluetooth, video conferencing. The processing speed is 10 times faster than the original RAZR, also will have about 2 to 4GB internal memory. the phone will be available for GSM later in June, and for CDMA later in the summer.

Some bad news for all the sprint costumers waiting for the ppc-6800 to come out, it will must properly be delayed till October (ouch...) but the good news is that it will have windows mobile 6 and EVDO Rev. A. also some rumors going out about a new name Mogul for the device and impossible missions being accomplished with this device... sounds like very complicated? me too!

The 755p is only an small upgrade to the Treo 700p which came out about a year ago -- anyone expecting a full upgrade better keep waiting. Consequently, the specs aren't anything too surprising: 320 x 320 pixel display, 128MB of RAM, 321MHz XScale processor, EV-DO Rev. 0, miniSD memory card slot (up to 4GB), 1600mAh Li-Ion battery, Bluetooth, 1.3 megapixel camera, and runs on Palm OS 5.4.9. New BlackBerry Curve announced

RIM today announced their new flagship device for consumers: the BlackBerry Curve 8300. The Curve combines the camera and other consumer-friendly features of the Pearl with the full QWERTY keyboard and QVGA display of the more business-oriented 8800. The Curve - a GSM device - sports other upgrades, though, as the first BlackBerry with a 2 megapixel camera, the first to support stereo Bluetooth, the first with a 3.5mm jack for standard stereo headphones, and the first to support 4GB microSD memory cards. On the software side, it has a new music player, new "high-performance" web browser with RSS, and speaker-independent voice control. AT&T will offer the Curve later in june. more

Sprint Nextel Posts a Loss on subscribers and profits

Sprint Nextel released their quarterly numbers yesterday, posting losses, customer retention, share value, and average income-per-subscriber information. Sprint lost 220,000 customers a month during the first 3 months of the year, resulting in an average churn of over 2.3%. The overall effect was a loss of $211 million dollars during the first quarter, While the company pointed to a total increase in customers of 568,000 in the period, most of those were less-valuable prepaid customers, who tend to move among the carriers and spend less each month. Sprint claimed 53.6 million customers to Verizon's 60.7 million and AT&T's 62.2 million. They said that the revenue and subscriber loss was due to the fact that it had poured resources into network upgrades and the latest handsets. (I'm not sure if we can buy that one!..) On a positive note, the company posted a significant amount of revenue from data plans and add-ons, indicating an increase of 44 percent from the year before. full story

Nokia Launch New N75 Smartphone for AT&T

AT&T and Nokia said today that they're officially putting the Nokia N75, AT&T's first 3G (UMTS) high speed Nokia phone, on sale tomorrow for $199.99, with a two-year contract and $50 mail-in rebate, The N75 is a chunky flip phone with a big, color external screen and an bright, glossy 320-by-240 internal screen. The keys are large and easy to press, and there's a 2MP camera on the back. The phone syncs with Windows Media Player, playing both purchased and subscribed content, and also plays MP3 and AAC files in its onboard music player, through wired or wireless headphones. As a UMTS phone, Since it's also a smartphone running Symbian Series 60 version 3, the N75 has PDF and Microsoft Office readers built in, plus IM and e-mail applications, and an excellent Web browser. Other onboard applications include RealPlayer, a Flash player, and an FM radio the N75 will be able to download data from the Internet at speeds up to 384 kbps/sec, but will get much shorter battery life than older GSM phones

T-Mobile launching roaming over Wi-Fi

T-Mobile USA Inc., the fourth largest U.S. wireless operator, is planning a national launch this summer of cellphones that can roam on Wi-Fi hotspots in homes and coffee shops, carrying calls over the Web to improve indoor reception and help customers save on monthly cellular minutes.
The service, known as Hotspot at Home, has been in trial in Seattle for a few months and the carrier is ready to roll it out nationwide as early as mid-June, people familiar with the matter say. The phones that currently work with the service are models made by Nokia Corp. and Samsung Electronics Co.
Customers in the trials pay $20 on top of their monthly cellphone bill to use the service, with a $5 additional monthly fee to add another family member. The pricing may be tweaked for the national launch and the service will be available in T-Mobile stores and through some retail partners, the people said. full story
